How it started

In a conversation one day between artists, educators, political activists, historians, and art supporters, was the legitimate concern over "losing" history. The informal group moved on to discuss how to preserve history instead. They discussed the direction of African American youth and their education, were excited over new technologies and all were in agreement that the creative impulse of peoples the African Diaspora was dauntless. This creative impulse most often expressed through music - a music that prevades and informs 0 a music so great that it impacts the listener, the leaner, the dreamer, the community. The conversation continued...and an idea was formed...
